This course examines genocide from the mid-twentieth century to the present. Beginning with the emergence of historical and legal concept in the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, students will explore major case studies, including Armenia, the Holocaust, Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge, Bosnia, Rwanda, and questions of genocide in the contemporary world.
